Roula Partheniou’s recent projects have centered on an exploration of the replica with a particular interest in the "double take". Making use of hyper-real trompe l'oeil, material puns and colour cues, she deconstructs the familiar and triggers a reconsideration of common forms. Her approach to the replica ranges from highly detailed to reductive and distorted versions of everyday objects. Her work has been shown in Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver, Winnipeg, Halifax, Surrey, Kingston, Oakville, Cambridge, New York, Miami, North Adams, Cincinnati, Greensborough, Dublin and Israel. She is represented by MKG127, Toronto. Her work can be seen at www.roulapartheniou.com and www.cupandball.ca
